She was Director of the Software Engineering Division<sup id=\"cite_ref-DrLouieNASASED_3-0\" class=\"reference\"><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Margaret_Hamilton_(scientist)#cite_note-DrLouieNASASED-3\">[3]<\/a><\/sup> of the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/MIT_Instrumentation_Laboratory\" class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"MIT Instrumentation Laboratory\">MIT Instrumentation Laboratory<\/a>, which developed on-board flight software for the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Apollo_space_program\" class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Apollo space program\">Apollo space program<\/a>.<sup id=\"cite_ref-klabs_4-0\" class=\"reference\"><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Margaret_Hamilton_(scientist)#cite_note-klabs-4\">[4]<\/a><\/sup> In 1986, she became the founder and CEO of Hamilton Technologies, Inc., in <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Cambridge,_Massachusetts\" title=\"Cambridge, Massachusetts\">Cambridge, Massachusetts<\/a>.
